Please express your views about any aspect of your user group, both good and bad. (This is the last question.)
I like Cheese
An excellent organization.
The lack of communication between the exec board and the membership.
Good, except there are too many older people who won't actively participate. I wish volunteers weren't so hard to find. I feel like our motto should be, "A few users helping everybody else." I resent the attitude by the general membership that our volunteers "owe" someithing to the rest of the members who do nothing but pay their dues.
New SIG meeting site that is much less desireable than before, neighborhood, seats, A/C, make renewing uncertain.
Tech. Information=great
New egroup=great
knowledge=great
help of all kinds=great
I've only been a member a short time. I'm very impressed
with the willingness of members to help other members (list-serve
is very helpful). The workshops appear to be very good - we'll soon
see.
I appreciate the info in the newsletter about upcoming meetings programs, especially when there is a fairly detailed description of the subject, so that I'll know whether I can perhaps benefit from the program or would likely be snowed by it (don't want to spend an evening reinforcing my ignorance). Also especially enjoy newsletter articles by members about their experiences with software/hardware, etc.
I especially enjoy the listserv and believe it is the most valuable
service such a user group can provide.
We have a very hard working group that is always striving to
find new ways to do things.
I LIKE THE General and SIG meeting very much.
enjoying the computer classes with continuing education credits...
It is a valuable source of information and help and has the potential for even
greater benefit to PC users in the future.
have none
The UG should be mostly devoted to improving computing skills
of the member group regardless of current skill level. Monthly
meetings should be devoted to several areas of interest, even if
meetings should consist of breakout meeting groups.
Pretty good group, quite active
I think TCS is doing a good job and they have helped me.
Not sure I am happy with ultra SW.com, do not like their free
modem!
It is a valuable resource.
Love the listserve.
I hate the "sales pitch" presentations every month.
TCS is the best computer organization I have been envolved with.
It's a bargain for the price! Don't listen to those who says it's too expensive. Let's get back to better programs.
I enjoy it and appreciate the work the officers do.
Good group that has served me very well over the years. Am just finding time to participate in it again as I approach retirement.
It has a dedicated core of leaders workers with varied and broad expertise. The long range planning is good. The group is progressive and adaptable to the interests of the members.
.
General Meetings have very little interest to me. The products demonstated rarely appeal to me.
Presenters often talk "over my head" since I'm a basic to intermediate knowledge user. However, the group sigs
and members are very helpful on a one and one basis.
I consider it a great group and have benefitted from the membership.
Very good organization to belong to. Learn a lot and get a lot of user to user help.
good selection of sigs, multiple interests
Great leaders. Good meeting site (wish it was closer to me but who doesn't).
I like the email announcements of coming events.
Slowly have learned more about computing. I like SIGs. Always possible to ask questions.
Love it even though I can't make all of the events !
Usually there is someone at the meeting to answer questions I may have regarding problems I encounter on my own during work.
Presentations at monthly meetings generally interest me some aspect or other.
Knowledge coverage seems to be pretty complete (via SIG groups). Presentations by members and outside vendors are usually interesting and informative.
The raffles of vendor products (and discount sales of presentator's products) are an added attraction.
I think this is a very good group, with some very talented and dedicated people trying to provide help and information to anyone who seeks them.
Exceedingly helpfull, friendly, & unselfish
Officers and volunteers are very dedicated and knowledgable. The listserve is valuable in obtaining information.
travel time can be increased by having to go across town to access the meeting place.
I have been happy with my user group and the SIG meetings it sponsors. I especially appreciate the hard work TCS officers and SIG leaders have put in to make computers more useful and interesting to the rest of the membership. -- We need to reach more people to increase our member base, perhaps through local internet postings or newspaper ads.
Wonderful group of people willing to share knowledge and help others. The ListServ is especially informative and provides timely responses to questions and problems besides providing a sense of community.
Nice people, well informed, new users too, some people take responsibility to help and leadership volunteer positions.
The help given those of us not very knowledgeable about computers is fabulous
It is well run and very helpful
Tendency of some listserver members to make insulting
attacks on others.
I enjoy the Tucson Computer Society
and what it offers to its members.
They pick unusual products for demos, which are great choices and you never hear about them anywhere elso usually (like enfish tracker pro)
It serves a very good purpose.
Again, the new courses are a great improvement.
One of the best in the nation. Very good
newsletter (Journal), timely, informative
and accurate.
Board of Directors sometimes acts as a "dictator" without group input. i.e. Large dues increase to pay for Board lease of "storefront" meeting place prior to consulting membership. "You elected the board, we are making the decesions for you"
Believe they do an axcellent job and ae very sincere
Enjoy the broad spectum of members when I attend SIG meetings
Top user group of any type I have ever been affiliated with.
List serve help....very good
Good
It has been more than helpful. Without it I would have remained completely lost. Also the friendships formed have been very helpful and good . TCS is a great organization.
Your survey is not in English.
One example: "How many hours a week" should be "per week"
Most presentations at user groups tend
to go somewhat over my head....
Most don't seem to apply to me.
Most meetings are interesting. Vendor presentations usually influence me in my purchases of software and hardware
This survey is too damned long! You won't get accurate answers from impatient answerers.
They have a tendency to try and lay a guilt trip on you if you can't attend meetings - most unfriendly.
I haven't been able to attend meetings or sigs but the help they give thru the
egroup is invaluable.
Sorry about all the unknowns, but I am new to the UG. I have not been to a meeting, the purpose of joining is to possibly meet people with like interests or jobs and actually make friends, have conversations where a router is not'a box that kinda acts like the bouncer at a bar.'
As to good or bad, I will not know until I experience it...
Thanks
Steve Matthews
Good
I like this group but I think we maybe comiing to the point where we are too big and spread out. With over 1000 members we are not the same as when we were smaller. We have very knowledgeable people and maybe to advanced for me. I still like my club.
